IPL Red Vein Treatment
There are various forms of vascular conditions and these are amongst the most common cosmetic concern. IPL treatments have the capability to treat vascular anomalies such as facial telangiectasia, commonly known as thread veins, dilated capillaries or broken veins, spider naevi and Rosacea.
The IPL system uses a flashlamp of intense light that is emits a series of short pulses. The wavelength of light is specially selected so that when it is directed into the skin, it is predominantly absorbed by the blood vessels. The blood vessels will absorb the light, which causes them to heat up and undergo a process called 'thermo coagulation'. This destroys the entire vessel while causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are absorbed by the body and little or no trace of the initial vessel remains. The treatment will also help to diminish the flushing, inflammation and severe redness that are very common with Rosacea sufferers.
For effective results the number of treatments will vary, depending on the area, typically 1 – 5 treatments at intervals of 4 – 6 weeks. However, to prevent a reoccurrence sun exposure must be avoided and use of a SPF 30+ sunscreen is recommended.
To fully understand the IPL treatment a consultation will be given to explain how the treatment works, and to assess your suitability. Not everyone is suitable for IPL treatment.
A patch test will be given prior to treatment commencing to check your skins reaction and establish a treatment plan.
