IPL Permanent Hair Removal
IPL, Intense Pulsed Light, uses the latest technology for long term permanent hair reduction. Unwanted hair can be inconvenient, irritating and embarrassing. IPL can provide a fast, non invasive method of hair reduction capable of treating most areas of the face and body in both men and women.
How it Works
The IPL system is a flashlamp that uses light to target the pigment, melanin, contained within the hair follicle. The light is converted to thermal energy that heats the hair shaft to temperatures that effectively destroys the lower part of the hair follicle.
As the skin may also contain melanin, particularly in darker skins, the light is introduced in pulses allowing the surrounding skin to cool preventing the surface overheating.
For effective results the treatment should be applied to darker hair that is actively growing.
IPL is not recommended for red, blond, white or grey hair.
Hair growth is cyclical and not all hairs are at the same stage of growth at any one time, therefore, multiple treatments will be necessary.
Treatments are spaced at intervals usually between 4-6 or 8 weeks depending on the area, becoming less frequent as the hairs diminish.
Initial Consultation
To fully understand the IPL treatment a consultation will be given to explain how the treatment works, assess whether it is the best solution for you.
Not everyone is suitable for IPL treatment.
A patch test will be given prior to treatment commencing to establish a treatment plan that meets your needs and expectations.
Recommended Number of Treatments
The number of IPL treatments will depend on various factors i.e. area to be treated, hair and skin colour and phase of growth. A minimum of 8 -12 treatments should achieve noticeable results although some clients may require more.
